DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE UNFORTUNATELY NOT TAKING ANY VOLUNTEERS OR WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENTS ON AT THE MOMENT.
Work Experience at Brookland Infant & Nursery School
If you are thinking of applying to the school to undertake work experience in preparation for a course of training to work with children or part of normal work experience within a school, please complete the application form and return it to Miss Amy Simpson, Deputy Head. The school address can be found on the contacts page of our website.
Please note that we do receive a large number of enquiries and therefore requests cannot always be accommodated.
All applicants will require Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance and this will be required before any work placement can commence. The DBS helps to make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. We are committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all children and staff.
Details of how to obtain your DBS clearance can be found on the following website:
Volunteering at Brookland Infant & Nursery School
Thinking of becoming a volunteer? We’d like to welcome you!
We have many parents, carers and people from our local community who come into school to help in the classrooms. They make a huge difference and staff and children really appreciate their help.
Help can take many forms; hearing children read, helping small groups of children with activities, talking to children about special experiences (visits to other countries, hobbies, jobs, special skills), accompanying children to special events, trips and helping with swimming etc.
Any volunteer needs to have a DBS check. If you visit the school office, they will help you with this process. You will need to bring your:
Passport or Birth Certificate
Driving License (Photocard)
Utility bill or council tax bill (dated within the last 3 months) or a bank statement which is proof of your name and address.
As soon as your DBS check has been completed, please contact school and we can arrange an informal chat, followed by an induction which will guide you through the daily school routines and expectations and more formal information on confidentiality, health & safety and safeguarding.
Please refer to the Work Experience & Volunteer Policy for further information.
