Who are the Designated Members of Staff Responsible for Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and expect all our staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share in this commitment.

All members of staff have a statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of the children at Brookland Infant and Nursery School at all times.

Who is responsible for Safeguarding?

If we have a concern about a child or receive information that leads us to be concerned that a child has been harmed or is at risk of harm or their welfare is being compromised, we are required to act appropriately to ensure action can be taken to protect the child concerned.

The concern may be as a result of a disclosure from a child, a parent or a third-party or may arise due to behaviour that has caused us to become concerned. In all instances concerns are passed on to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

The DSL may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies where there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our children are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare or have been advised by Social Care not to share any information.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Brookland Infant and Nursery School is:

Mrs Brenda McCafferty - Headteacher

The other Members of our Safeguarding Team are:

Miss Amy Simpson - Deputy Headteacher

Ms Alison Gross - Inclusion Leader

Mrs Laura Pincus - Nominated Safeguarding Governor
