Nursery Admission
Be Kind, Grow Together, Learn Forever
Choosing a Nursery is an exciting milestone, and at Brookland Infant and Nursery School, we want every family to feel welcome from the very start.
As part of Brookland Infant and Nursery School, our Nursery offers a wonderful introduction to school life, helping children develop the skills and confidence they need for a smooth transition into Reception.
Our Nursery provides a happy, caring and stimulating environment where children learn through play, explore new interests and build lasting friendships. We celebrate every child as an individual, helping them develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
We offer both 15-hour and 30-hour nursery places, giving families flexibility to choose the option that best suits their needs. Our school office will be happy to help you understand the options available and eligibility for funded hours.
Guided by our motto, Be Kind, Grow Together, Learn Forever, we encourage children to be kind, respect others, embrace new challenges and enjoy discovering the world around them.

Joining Nursery
Starting Nursery is a big milestone for both children and their families. At Brookland Infant and Nursery School we understand that every child is different, and we want to make the transition into Nursery as happy, positive and reassuring as possible. We take the time to get to know each child and their family, tailoring our admissions and settling-in arrangements to meet individual needs.
Our approach includes:
-
Welcome evening: An opportunity in June or July for families to meet the team, find out more about Nursery life and receive important information to help prepare for their child's start.
-
Come and play session: A special session in July for children to explore the Nursery environment, become familiar with the setting and meet the Nursery Team before they start.
-
Home visit: In September, two members of our Nursery Team will visit your child at home. This gives us the opportunity to begin building relationships in a familiar and comfortable environment, helping your child feel more secure when they start Nursery.
-
Five settling-in sessions: When children first start, they attend five shorter sessions to help them become familiar with their new surroundings, get to know the adults and begin forming friendships at a gentle pace.
-
Meet the Teacher evening: In September, parents are invited to an evening to meet their child's teacher, learn more about daily life in Nursery and find out about our Nursery curriculum and the exciting learning opportunities their child will experience.
-
Parent coffee morning: Also in September, we invite parents to join us for a relaxed coffee morning, giving families the chance to meet other parents in their child's class, make connections and begin building friendships. It's a lovely opportunity to get to know one another, share experiences and even arrange playdates outside of Nursery.
-
Extended transition where needed: We recognise that some children may need additional time and support to feel confident in their new environment. We work closely with families to provide a flexible transition tailored to each child's individual needs.
-
Partnership with families: We encourage open communication throughout the settling-in period, sharing information and working together to ensure every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn.
Our priority is to help every child feel welcomed, secure and excited about their new adventure at Brookland Infant and Nursery School. By working closely with families and taking the time to understand each child, we aim to build the strong foundations for a happy and successful start to school.
